About

I’ve dreamed of having a career as a game developer for as long as I can remember. My parents are both programmers and started teaching me how to program as soon as I could move a mouse. I’ve known how I wanted to use my programming skills just as long.

I graduated a year early from Edison Prep High School in Yoder, CO and received my Associates Degree from Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs at the same time. I then went on to study Game Programming & Development at Southern New Hampshire University.

One thing some might find as a disability, but I find to be one of my great strengths, is that I have High Functioning Autism. If you don’t know much about autism, suffice it to say that it is likely the cause of my singular focus on creating video games that has never wavered since I was six years old.

I started learning programming using Scratch and MIT App Inventor when I was in elementary school. From there, I went on to learn Python and started learning to use the Unity and Unreal game engines. I participated in my first Global Game Jam when I was 16, which is the minimum age my location (University of Colorado – Colorado Springs) allowed. In fact, since they didn’t allow unaccompanied minors, my parents had to spend the whole weekend including overnight in the building so I could participate. I need to remember to thank them for that. I’ve participated in many more game jams online and at UCCS since then, and have attended GDC online. This year I will be attending GDC in person for the first time.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to attend Edison Prep High School which is an early college charter school. I took all my classes through a combination of homeschool and dual enrollment at Pikes Peak Community College. This way, as I mentioned above, I was able to earn my Associate’s degree at the same time as my high school diploma. I even earned enough credits that I was able to graduate after just three years. After graduation, I enrolled in Southern New Hampshire University’s Game Programming & Development program. Having recently graduated, I am seeking my first industry position.
